CubaLibre BlockParty

The Globe will host its eighth annual CubaLibre BlockParty this Friday, along the entire 300 block of Alhambra Circle. This free, open-air concert and festival in the heart of downtown Coral Gables, starts at 4 p.m., May 20.

Celebrating Cuba’s first Independence Day of 1902, this year’s event will be headlined by two-time Grammy and Emmy winner and Miami’s own Albita.

Opening the concert will be Tomasito Cruz, a virtuoso musician widely considered to be among the top three conga players in the world. He was a member of three Grammy winning bands with Alejandro Sanz, Willy Chirino and Arturo Sandoval.
