Film Screening: Lost Son of Havana

“The Robbins Library will show the Emmy nominated documentary about Luis Tiant, “The Lost Son of Havana”, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15th as the next in its free series of independent films.

After forty-six years in exile, former Red Sox star Luis Tiant returns to Cuba, where he encounters unexpected demons and receives unexpected gifts from his family. The film was called a “sociopolitical masterpiece” by Peter Gammons of ESPN and awarded the Best Film of 2009 by the Baseball Film Festival.

Two Arlington residents, Lance Greene, actor and producer, and Dave McLaughlin, writer and director, of the film “On Broadway,” will lead discussions after the film.

The Robbins Library is located at 700 Massachusetts Ave. and is on the #79 MBTA bus line. Parking is also available near the library. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Films will be shown in the community room. For more information on the film series, go to http://www.robbinslibrary.org “
